SNAP Benefits Texas: This is the scheduled payment for October 2023, and how much will be deposited

SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2023. It's expected that up to $1691 will be made available to claimants.

SNAP payments are always paid over the first 10 business days (not weekends) of each month but the precise date of when recipients get their payment depends on their eligibility determination group (EDG) number.

  • 3 - 6th of October
  • 4 - 7th of October

How much is available and their conditions?

The amount of payments available are based on the household size of claimants, with single households receiving $281 and eight-member households getting the full $1691. Families of 8+ members get an extra $281 per additional member.

It will be paid to a Lone Star Card, which is an electronic benefit card. It is paid automatically on the issuance date and cannot be spent on luxury items or bills unrelated to food. The card can be used to pay for non-alcoholic drinks.

How to qualify?

In order to qualify, a single person household cannot earn more than $1869 ($467.25 per week) whilst a five person household cannot earn more than $4465 per month ($1116.25 per week).

If a person is aged between 16 and 59, that person must be either: employed, looking for a job, work in an approved work program. A recipient cannot quit their job without a good reason for doing so.
